One (ok, maybe two) shot(s) every day. My first year of dailies has been amazing, albeit with some twists and turns. I started on a random day in March. I finished off at Dec. 31 just to make life easier. In this year shot my first wedding, my first set of senior portaits, dozens of bike races, several new buildings. I upgraded to full-frame with the D700, got laid off only to find another job within a week. And last but not least, baby Ashley came along in late november. The majority of the shots from November therefore are daily baby photos.

I did my best to shoot something interesting, and to share the how’s and why’s. Photoshop and Lightroom are awesome and my main tools for post processing.

Thanks for looking; thanks for all the comments.

Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 12-18 WOOHOO! Good ending to a stressful week.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 12-17 Day 2 of unemployment. Ashley's 1 month birthday. I had another meeting today, but with a headhunter rather than an actual company. The job she had was only moderately related to things I've done in the past, so I put it off until I researched some of the things that are more in my wheelhouse.

Ashley did a good long session for me when I took this. Lots of hats & poses before she got mad at me and started screaming. Only a bit of additional black in post here. By doing so, I needed to drop saturation a bit.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 12-16 Busy day today despite now being amongst the unemployed. I prepared a resume, and had an interview. The interview went well, and they said to expect an offer by the end of the week. After the interview we met some friends for coffee (I know, I know: coffee in seattle....shocking).

My father in law has a friend who was wonderful enough to knit this super-cute little hat for baby Ashley. She'd too cute for words! She's beginning to get a grasp on facial expressions, although this one seems to be gas while she was sleeping.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 12-15 Today I got laid off. Not too horribly happy about the timing with my little bundle needing all the support I can give her. It's times like these when it's good to have made friends in the industry. I managed to hook up an interview for tomorrow through a coworker, and a friend over there.

I purposely softened this one because it was pretty soft in the first place, and emphasizes the cuteness factor of the sleeping baby.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 12-14 Back to work today. Since I'm late with this daily, I'll pretend like I don't know what's coming tomorrow. Read on...

Ashley is just too cute for words. I love her expression and those cute little eyes here.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 12-13 Alas, I've gotten waaaay behind on my dailies. I took this Saturday, but am using it for my Sunday. Nolan at the clam lights. Hammin' it up as usual. I'm happy he likes to have his picture taken :D.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 12-12 Another day on the couch. Honeymoon period ends on Monday...back to work.

We did manage to make it to the Clam Lights tonight. Every year the city of Renton decorates Coulon park with lights. And somehow this is related to the Ivar's clams.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 12-11 I know it's just gas, but I love the smile :D.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 12-10 We used this for our Christmas cards this year with a bit of text added after this point. I'm not 100% happy with the pinking of the blue hat, but it's what I've got, so I'm going with it :D.

Happy Holidays to the dailies' crowd!
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 12-09 I managed to do lots of sleeping, and little else today. My little angel kept us up for most of the night, and my angel of a wife let me sleep for 5 hours this afternoon. Doesn't make for a very productive day overall though.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 12-08 The second of my daily double...Ashley's first bath :D. It was a 4 handed job for my wife and I, so I could only catch the aftermath.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 12-08 The first of my daily double. Anna and I grabbed the kiddo and headed for the Skagit. It was a bit slower than normal, but we got through joy of feeding in the car, and finding potty stops, and all that jazz. This may even happen again soon :D.

Anyway, the highlight of my day was this little guy. I've taken dozens of trips to the Skagit valley flats over the past couple years, and this is only the second one of these guys (it's a merlin if I'm not mistaken) I've seen...and the first one that afforded me good lighting for a decent shot.

As for the Skagit progress report - didn't look for the owls today. Lots of harriers, red-tails, bald eagles, swans and geese. One rough-legged hawk with very drab coloring. I didn't make the loop where I'm most likely to find the kestrels, but they were there on Sunday. Also didn't see any peregrines today, but they're definitely around. Lots of ducks near bayview (pintails mostly).
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 12-07 Nothing sweeter than a sleeping baby.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 12-06 Nolan and the Rock. I went with my dad & my nephew on a birding trip up to the Skagit flats today. Lots of birds! We didn't make it past Fir Island, but the geese were there along with swans, kestrels, harriers, red-tailed hawks, a pair of wild(?) turkeys, kildeer and many others I'm sure I'm forgetting.

As usual, Nolan stole the show, and gets to be my daily photo. Bird pics and more of baby Ashley to follow in the coming days.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 12-05 I managed to get Ashley to pose for me on 3 separate occasions today, so I thought I'd do a daily double. Thanks to my sis-in-law Tiffany for making this adorable hat! This is my wife's favorite, so it gets to take the lead.

I'm finally figuring out how to make things look this way without doing post processing. I've got my sharpening all the way down, brightness up, and contrast is auto. No PP at all. The slight unsharpness is intentional.
