One (ok, maybe two) shot(s) every day. My first year of dailies has been amazing, albeit with some twists and turns. I started on a random day in March. I finished off at Dec. 31 just to make life easier. In this year shot my first wedding, my first set of senior portaits, dozens of bike races, several new buildings. I upgraded to full-frame with the D700, got laid off only to find another job within a week. And last but not least, baby Ashley came along in late november. The majority of the shots from November therefore are daily baby photos.

I did my best to shoot something interesting, and to share the how’s and why’s. Photoshop and Lightroom are awesome and my main tools for post processing.

Thanks for looking; thanks for all the comments.

Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 11-20 Day #1 for our little Ashley. So far, all the tests have come back great, and we should be headed for home tomorrow. I managed 5 minutes of sleep this evening to complement the 2.5 hours last night.

Baby grabbed my finger :D. So cute!
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 11-19 Welcome to the world Ms. Ashley Marilyn Lynch. Loooonng day started at 6am. Almost ready to consider some sleep at 2:30 am as I post my daily.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 11-18 Baby now 7 days past due, and no sign of wanting to come out & play.

We went to see our niece and nephew at their swimming lessons today. As usual, so cute. I'd done a couple in a row of my niece, so I thought it was Nolan's turn this time. He looked like he had a blast!
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 10-17 Happy Birthday Dad! Sorry, but looks like day #6 of overdueness won't be the day.

Another shot of my Movember 'stache. This is very tough to get used to! I'm only half way through and already counting the days until I can shave. Anyway, please make it worth my while by visiting - http://us.movember.com/mospace/357034/. Click on "DONATE TO ME" and help bring much needed awareness and funding to cancers that affect men, specifically prostate and testicular cancer. Here is their 'about' page: http://us.movemberfoundation.com/about-us/. Thanks!!!
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 11-16 Day #5 overdue. The ticking and tocking is getting louder! Doc tomorrow will tell us if there are any problems.

This is a shot of the most amazing coffee art I've ever seen. Bar none. Hands down. I did some selections and added contrast to the foam art so it would be a bit easier to see how cool this really was. This place is new, and off to a running start. Check them out here: http://www.dubseacoffee.com/ . Thanks Sibelle and Joerael!
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 11-16 I couldn't help but post this one too from our first adventure to DubSea Coffee. Truly amazing art with foam!

I did quite a bit to contrast to show off the art. Maybe not quite as apetizing looking, but I assure you, the coffee was excellent.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 11-15 Still no little tike. Tic toc tic toc. Day #4 overdue. Again, I have the best wife. She did some hand modelling for me today :D.

Ever see a shot that makes you go "hey, I could do that"? Well, this is one of them for me. My wife's friend just brought over a set of the Twilight series, and there's a shot that's very similar to this on one of the covers. I thought it was cool, and that it was something I might be able to do.

I set up a spot light that ended up being pretty low angle in the end. I made sure the spot was shining on the hands, but not the black background below. I chose an aperture that would be sharp for the apple and hands, but that I thought would leave the background a bit blurry still. I pumped up my contrast, and shot with RAW to give myself more processing options.

The processing involved making selections for the apple, fingernails, and hands/arms. I tried the hands several different ways, and let my lovely wife/model choose her favorite. The final result was chalk&charcoal. I changed the apple's tint a bit to try and match the nails. I also needed to add a bit more saturation to it.

Fun shot, lots of processing. It's pretty close to the original, but I turned the hands a more contrasty black & white.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 11-15 Day 3 of baby due date gone by...still waiting and hoping.

Hung out at home with the puppies for most of the day. Misha is cute even if she was being her neurotic self this evening. :D
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 11-15 I've been trying to catch this maneuver for some time. Misha rolls over and crosses her legs. So cute.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 11-14 Day 2 baby overdue....

After yesterday's creepy eye (mine), I thought I needed something to get the tone of my dailies a bit more upbeat. My niece is so cute. She was doing a bit of modelling for her mommy here.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 11-12 Our due date has come, and gone. Now the countdown to baby time begins the overtime period.

This is the second of my daily double. I took this early in the day, thinking I'd have nothing to shoot. Since I don't like shooting myself, I though more post processing was in order...guess I got carried away :D.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 11-12 My second of the daily double. My lovely wife got me a cupcake :D. I have the best wife!
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 11-11 You know it's a rough week for photos when there are two of my ugly mug. This one, however, has a purpose. I've joined the Movember movement to spread the word and do a bit of fundraising for colon and testicular cancer research. Please check out my page at: http://us.movember.com/mospace/357034/. Thanks for looking!
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 11-10 Baby due in two days! Not much to shoot when it gets dark and is raining at 4:30. Odie always makes for an interesting shot when he'll hold still.

Still working on light vs. dark and contrast in camera rather than PS. I did add a bit of black to this one, and took out the TV that was in the upper left. No filters. A little color correction, a little crop, and a little level adjustment today.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 11-09 I've been into the filters on photoshop a bit more the past couple weeks. This one is the poster edges filter. We went for a walk for coffee :D. It's getting tough to find light to shoot with darkness coming to Seattle at 4:30.
2009 11-20 Day #1 for our little Ashley. So far, all the tests have come back great, and we should be headed for home tomorrow. I managed 5 minutes of sleep this evening to complement the 2.5 hours last night.

Baby grabbed my finger :D. So cute!
