Jeff Lynch Photography > 2010 01-06 Another shot from yesterday's baby Ashley shoot. I was playing with trying to be a bit more creative with my lighting.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 10-24 I went looking for some birds (cooper's hawks specifically) this morning and didn't have any luck whatsoever. I've been told they are at a particular spot every day, but no luck for me today.

To make up for it though, I was able to get some great shots (IMHO) of my nephew's soccer game. This is one of our friend's kids - Kaelin (sp?). Everyone was feeling good after an early goal despite not keeping score.

Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 06-29 Another green heron! These guys are very elusive, and don't usually get anywhere near me. This was a clear shot, so I was able to crop significantly without losing too much quality. I tried to get closer, but managed to scare this one off. There actually were two and I didn't realize it until they flew away. I'm afraid I was a bad 'birder' today.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2010 01-21 Ashley! I loved her wearing all red, so I thought I'd take a few shots. Fortunately, she smiled for me :D.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 05-26 Today was a busy day at work, followed by a run to the bike race. Therefore, this one is another of my favorites from the weekend photo binge.

It was taken in color, but I had this look in mind and was able to execute it in photoshop/lightroom.

Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 06-23 My wife asked me to pick up some cupcakes for her coworkers to munch on tomorrow. They put the cute little cupcakes into egg containers. I couldn't resist trying to make something interesting out of all the colors and textures.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 11-15 Still no little tike. Tic toc tic toc. Day #4 overdue. Again, I have the best wife. She did some hand modelling for me today :D.

Ever see a shot that makes you go "hey, I could do that"? Well, this is one of them for me. My wife's friend just brought over a set of the Twilight series, and there's a shot that's very similar to this on one of the covers. I thought it was cool, and that it was something I might be able to do.

I set up a spot light that ended up being pretty low angle in the end. I made sure the spot was shining on the hands, but not the black background below. I chose an aperture that would be sharp for the apple and hands, but that I thought would leave the background a bit blurry still. I pumped up my contrast, and shot with RAW to give myself more processing options.

The processing involved making selections for the apple, fingernails, and hands/arms. I tried the hands several different ways, and let my lovely wife/model choose her favorite. The final result was chalk&charcoal. I changed the apple's tint a bit to try and match the nails. I also needed to add a bit more saturation to it.

Fun shot, lots of processing. It's pretty close to the original, but I turned the hands a more contrasty black & white.
Jeff Lynch Photography > 2009 05-25 Nolan with his first slip & slide. He had a blast, and played on this thing almost all afternoon. The first few times were pure joy, as I was aiming to capture here.

I’ve been away shooting/road tripping all weekend, so please have a look at my past couple dailies, that were all posted today. I’d love to hear what you think.
